SATURDAY MILAN (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) - 154
We are glad to share the highlights of the 154th Sangamam held at Sailam on 8th November, soon after the Diwali celebrations. More than 80 elders took part in this gathering, including three new members from VK Puram and Alwarkurichy, who were warmly welcomed into the Sangamam family.
To bring joy and participation, elders were encouraged to move freely, sing, play, and interact. Five teams were formed to play simple group games, led by team leaders. The laughter and togetherness reminded us that joy does not depend on age — only on the spirit to live freely.
After the activities, our Trustee Shri. M. Muthukumarasamy shared insights on our evolving Elder Wellness Program rooted in compassion, dignity, and emotional peace. He explained how Finger Touch / Self-Touch Therapy can help elders reduce physical discomfort, calm the mind, and restore emotional balance. He also reflected on his visit to Mukthi Bhawan in Varanasi, highlighting the importance of letting go of emotional burdens, forgiving the past, and blessing one’s family with love.
Mahizhvith Mahizh — Living with Joy
Going forward, Sangamam gatherings will focus on wellness, emotional healing, and joyful living under the theme “Mahizhvith Mahizh.”
Elders were gently invited to:
• Release long-held pain and resentment
• Pray for the well-being of their children and grandchildren
• Choose forgiveness over hurt
• Replace complaints with blessings
• Restore harmony in family and community relationships
To support this journey, a “One Act of Kindness a Day” chart will be introduced, encouraging elders to bring happiness to one person daily.
A Family Blessing Gathering will also be organized soon to strengthen emotional bonds.
A 30-day Finger Touch & Wellness Training Program will soon be offered at Sivasailam and Mannarkoil, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm each day, guided by trained facilitators.
We are also exploring the possibility of a residential wellness experience, subject to financial support.
Our next Sangamam will be held on 12th November to welcome Shri. Shibu Sankaran, Secretary of Gandhigram & Trustee of Vama Trust and Doctors from TVS Lakshmi Hospital, Madurai. This replaces the previously scheduled date of 15th November at Sivasailam, as a Sangamam program will be held in Tirunelveli that weekend.
A Moment of Community Love
We celebrated the 80th birthday of Mrs. Subbulakshmi from Kallidaikurichy, who lives without spouse or children. Her birthday was observed with love and dignity. A new dress was gifted to her, and chocolates were shared with everyone.
We express our sincere thanks to Shri. Kalraman Sir for making this moment special.
The program concluded with hot tea and biscuits, and the elders returned home with smiles, warmth, and a renewed sense of belonging.
Sangamam is Becoming a Movement
Sangamam is evolving into a movement of healing and joyful aging, where:
• Elders care for their body through simple daily wellness practices
• Elders care for their mind by letting go of emotional pain
• Elders care for their families through blessing and harmony
• Elders rediscover purpose, dignity, and peace
This is the heart of Mahizhvith Mahizh — Not waiting for joy, but choosing to live joyfully.
Our heartfelt thanks to Trustees for their guidance, Donors and Well-wishers for their support, Volunteers and Care Teams for their service and most of all, our elders — for their trust, grace, and presence. -You are the soul of Sangamam.
