We are delighted to share the successful completion of the 177th Week of VAMA Sangamam, held on 6th June at Sailam.

This week, more than 75 senior citizens from Kallidaikurichi, Ambasamudram, Mannarkoil, Thirumalaipuram, VK Puram, and Kalyanipuram gathered together and spent a joyful day filled with fellowship, learning, and recreation. The elders shared their cherished memories and experiences with VAMA over the years, making the gathering truly meaningful.

As part of the program, various fun-filled games were organized for the elders, encouraging participation and creating a lively atmosphere.

We were honored to have Mr. Mahalingam, Mr. Anaji, and Mr. Lakshmanan from Ambasamudram as special guests. Mr. Mahalingam spoke about the importance of kindness and compassion in serving the elderly community. Mr. Anaji highlighted VAMA’s achievements and contributions towards senior citizen welfare. Mr. Lakshmanan shared inspiring thoughts about the greatness of rivers and narrated the story of Bhagiratha, emphasizing dedication and perseverance in life.
The elders enthusiastically participated in recreational activities, including a ball game, which brought smiles and laughter to everyone.

A delicious lunch was served, consisting of rice, sambar, carrot puttu, beetroot poriyal, vathakulambu, rasam, and other side dishes. The elders thoroughly enjoyed the meal and appreciated the hospitality.

After lunch, the participants joined a lively “Pattukku Pattu” (song session), where many elders showcased their singing talents. Their melodious voices created a warm and cheerful atmosphere that filled the venue with joy and nostalgia.

Our Trustee, Mr. Muthukumarasamy, interacted warmly with the elders and shared details about the upcoming initiatives planned by VAMA. He introduced the concept of an Elders’ Security and Care Pledge, encouraging greater community responsibility towards the well-being and protection of senior citizens. He also spoke about the forthcoming Grandma Day Celebration, which will bring together grandparents and grandchildren in a meaningful intergenerational gathering. As part of the celebration, a special Paadha Pooja ceremony will be organized, where grandchildren will honor their grandparents by expressing gratitude, respect, and love for their invaluable role in the family and society.

At 3:30 PM, tea was served, and the gathering concluded with the elders returning home carrying sweet memories, happiness, and a sense of belonging.
