94th week of Saturday Sangamam program to reduce the social isolation of elders was held yesterday – 4th May 2024. As Summer Camp activities for children started from 2nd May 2024, Connecting Generation was the concept. Children who are attending our Summer Camp program at Sivasailam, Mannarkoil and Pappakudi along with the coordinator and others joined the program. With our regular elders of around 92, 86 children joined and the event had 178 participants.
All are gathered around 10.A.M., VAMA ‘s vehicle flied to Pappakudi, V.K. Puram, Mannarkoil, Alwarkurichi, Chettikulam from 7.45 A.M. in the morning. Elders visited SRI PARAMA KALYANI SEMEDA SREE SIVASAILANADHAR temple. Children and elders were connected to make the children to feel that they are at their Grandparents place (Patti Thatha Veedu). Several activities conducted to connect both generations. Kutties who came from Gandhigram Trust, Dindigal, enjoyed a lot with elders and others around. They had been there for the last three days and the place become familiar for their activities to enjoy. Around 11 A.M., energy drink along with biscuits served to children and elders to make them comfortable to participate. Firstly, the program was started with the students from HINDU MIDDLE SCHOOL, Pappakudi. We enabled elders to do yoga and some small relaxing exercises.
After having fun of games, elders and experts had Maths session with the children to have FUN with NUMBERS and it was useful for the students to understand the easy method to learning the maths.
It was much eventful – some children with elders had TUG OF WAR, playing Game, telling stories, singing rhymes and songs, dancing and many more.
As usual our Comperes, Ms. Subha and Ms Kowsalya made the event much active. Conducted program to the elders to make their mind and phsyics to get reenergised. The games such as “Don’t use the hand and eat the biscuits” and Coins and sticks in Bowls etc very much interesting and enjoyed by all.
Mrs. Indhulekha conducted the yoga for them. Very good lunch was served – Rice, sambar, aviyal, poriyal, pacchadi, buttermilk rasam, payasam.
Post lunch, activities continued and elders enjoyed with children. Around 3.30 P.M. children from Pappakudi and Avvai Ashram left for their places and around 4.30 P.M. elders left for Mannarkoil and V.K. Puram, etc.
