We are happy to share the our 130th week of Sangamam at Sailam, where we conducted a combined program under the concept of Preserve the Talent.
We invited Dr.Ramasamy to give awareness on iyarkai maruthuvam and Mr.Inbasekaran for debate.
Dr. Ramasamy spoke about traditional Tamil medicine (Maruthuvam) and the ancient dietary practices followed by Tamilians for maintaining good health. He emphasized the importance of:
Taking oil baths twice a week (for both men and women).
Consuming healthy, natural foods for heart and digestive well-being.
Engaging in regular morning or evening walks.
Avoiding exposure to morning sunlight, as evening sunlight is more beneficial for health.
Drawing from his 30 years of experience, he encouraged elders to follow a structured daily diet and maintain an active lifestyle for overall well-being.
Debate: “Who Takes Better Care of Their Parents – Son or Daughter?”
The debate was chaired by Mr. Inbasekaran, with the following participants:
In favor of Sons: Mr. Arumugam, Mr. I. Lakshmanan, and Mr. Kaviyarasan.
In favor of Daughters: Mrs. Esakkiyammal, Mrs. Sundari, and Mrs. Amutha.
Both teams presented strong arguments, leading to a lively and engaging discussion. After careful deliberation, Mr. Inbasekaran, the judge, concluded that daughters provide better care for their parents. The speakers were appreciated for their insightful points.
Special Guests were honored by the presence of Mr. Venkatesh and Mr. Vijayan from Chennai, who attended the event with their 92-year-old mother. She, being in remarkably good health, blessed the participants and honored them with small gifts. She also praised VAMA’s dedicated service to society, especially for the elderly.
Traditional Lunch & Cultural Activities:
Following the debate, a delicious and traditional lunch was served, featuring:
Rice
More Kulambu (Buttermilk-based curry)
Bottle gourd Kootu
Banana flower porridge
Rasam and buttermilk
The meal was enjoyed by all and appreciated for its authentic taste and nutritional value. After a short rest, the participants reassembled for the Pattukku Pattu session, which was thoroughly enjoyed by both regular attendees and new participants from Kadayam.
The program concluded successfully, leaving everyone with sweet memories. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who participated and supported this event.
