We are delighted to share the details of the 131st week of the Sangamam event, where we organized a special outing for our elders based on their wishes. This week, we visited the Nithyakalyani Amman Temple in Kadayam and the Thoranamalai Murugan Temple, a place believed to be a Siddhar Bhoomi.
The journey began at 8:00 AM from Mannarkoil, and along the way, we picked up elders from nearby villages. More than 50 elders participated in this memorable trip. Everyone enjoyed their time at the Kadayam temple and also visited the Bharathiyar Memorial, where the great poet Bharathiyar is said to have written some of his verses during his visits to Kadayam.
Next, we traveled to Thoranamalai, a place renowned for its rich herbal flora and also known as Siddhar Malai. It is believed that Siddhars like Sridhar Theerayar and Agasthiyar once prayed and worked here on Siddha medicine (Sudha Maruthuvam).
After exploring the temples, the elders had lunch at Thoranamalai, followed by an interactive session where they shared their experiences and reflections on the trip. Many of them expressed their joy, mentioning that even though these temples are close to their homes, they never had the opportunity to visit them before. They felt grateful that VAMA Trust provided them with this chance.
This was our second visit to the Nithyakalyani Amman Temple, as we had previously organized a trip here last year. Many elders fondly recalled memories from the last visit and expressed their heartfelt thanks to the VAMA team for arranging this tour once again.
The day concluded with all elders returning home with devine blessings and sweet memories
