Our 106th Saturday Sangamam (Saturday Milan)event was held on the 10th of August at Ambai Tamil Elakkiya Peravai. Our participation was graciously invited by the Peravai’s Secretary, Mr. Lakshmanan, as part of their 49th Annual Day celebration.
Over 60 elders from our trust attended the event, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and engaging activities. We arranged transportation for all attendees, ensuring a smooth pick-up and drop-off. The event itself saw the participation of more than 380 individuals, with our Vama team performing from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
The program commenced with a heartfelt prayer song by our very own Mrs. Susila and Mrs. Puspa. Following this, Mr. Lakshmanan, Secretary of Tamil Elakkiya Peravai, spoke about Vama’s significant contributions to the elder community, highlighting the various activities conducted at SAILAM. His address was followed by an insightful speech from Mr. Arumugam, who discussed the challenges faced by the elderly and offered practical solutions. He emphasized the importance of maintaining both physical and mental well-being, and how elders can productively engage in social activities during their free time. The session was both informative and engaging for all attendees.
Continuing the program, our Trustees, Mr. Muthukumarsamy and Mr. Rengan, distributed awards to elders who were recognized for their outstanding contributions. Awards were given for categories such as Best Attendance, Best Performer, Super Senior, and Best Contributor. The recipients expressed their gratitude to Vama Trust for the recognition and motivation, which greatly uplifted their spirits.
Mrs. Lakshmi then led a session on yoga and breathing exercises, stressing their importance for maintaining health in old age. Mr. Rengan, who traveled from Chennai for the event, also spoke passionately to the elders, offering encouragement and support. His enthusiasm and commitment to helping those in need were greatly appreciated by all.
Our Trustee extended heartfelt thanks to Tamil Elakkiya Peravai for the opportunity to showcase the talents of our elders during their annual celebration. The event also featured a quiz session led by Mr. Arumugam, where elders actively participated and answered questions with enthusiasm.
The program concluded successfully at 4:30 PM, with all elders departing with a sense of fulfillment and joy. Vama Charitable Trust also organized meals for all participants, ensuring that over 380 elders and school children were well cared for during the event. Our Saturday Sangamam elders had a memorable experience, enriched by the interactions and activities at the Tamil Elakkiya Peravai program.
