Saturday Milan (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) - 129

We are delighted to inform you about the successful completion of our 129th Sangamam and the 76

th Republic Day celebration organized by VAMA Trust. This week, the two events were combined into a vibrant program.

More than 150 elders participated, alongside 28 students from our evening classes in Mannarkoil. The students performed exceptionally well in the Republic Day program. They sang the national song with melodious voices, and their dance performance beautifully expressed their love for the nation.

A team of four members from Heartfulness visited and conducted a session on physical exercises to promote easy body movement and overall well-being. They also suggested simple meditation practices (Thiyanam) to help elders achieve mental freshness and peaceful thoughts.

All the elders and children actively participated in the meditation session. Additionally, Mrs. Lakshmi from Art of Living (AOL) guided the participants through a yoga session. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from the yoga and meditation practices led by the experts

One of the boys captivated the audience with his impressive Silambam performance. The elders also joined in the Silambam demonstration, symbolizing our “Connecting Generations” concept. Their collaboration highlighted the harmony between the elders and children, who together delivered outstanding cultural performances.

The children’s fashion show was a major highlight, showcasing their confidence and creativity.

Adding to the significance of the day, 25 first-year MSc Psychology students from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, attended the program. They interacted warmly with the elders and children, expressing their eagerness to contribute to elder care through both online and offline initiatives. They assured us of their continued engagement with VAMA Trust.

Following the cultural events, we served lunch, which included rice, sambar, brinjal poriyal, rasam, and buttermilk. Both the children and elders thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

After lunch, prizes were distributed by the trustee to the children who excelled in their performances. The program concluded with a lively Antakshari session among the elders, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

Finally, the elders departed for their respective villages, taking with them fond memories of the event
