Saturday Milan (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) - 138

We are happy  to share the highlights of the 138th week of the Sangamam program held at Sailam. This week’s gathering was made special with the “Connecting Generations” concept, bringing together elders and school children for a meaningful and joyful interaction.

With the start of the summer vacation, many school children were able to participate. They also attended the Sivanthiyappar Samaya Vaguppu, conducted by Mrs. Gomathy Thirunavukkarasu from VK Puram. More than 16 children took part in various cultural and traditional activities, joined enthusiastically by our elders.

The program included singing, discussions on the importance of family relationships, and how to maintain harmony with neighbors. One of the key highlights was a debate conducted by the children on the topic: “What is more important in life – Love or Money?” The debate was judged by Subalashmi, a young girl who fairly assessed both sides.

Both teams presented strong points.

Notably, a girl named Mahalashmi argued in favor of love, while an opposing team member cleverly countered, saying, “If you have money in your name, how can you say love is more important?” – a witty response that was appreciated by everyone present.

The performance of one boy  Thirukural and Panjapuranam, with their innocent voices, added charm to the event.

Mahalashmi’s Bharatanatyam dance was another standout moment – her graceful performance received wide applause. Many parents also attended, encouraging and supporting the children throughout the program.

All of this was made possible with the valuable support and spiritual guidance of Gomathiyamma, whose inspiring talk on faith in God deeply moved the audience.

At the end of the program, the elders distributed tokens of appreciation to all the participating children. We were honored to have Mr. Lakshmikandhan Bharathy Ayya, our well-wisher from Chennai, joined us this week. He too appreciated the children’s talent and involvement.

The lunch was thoroughly enjoyed by all – featuring rice, sambar, chow-chow kootu, and a special menu for children of fried rice, raita, mor rasam, and sweet sakkarai pongal.

Everyone – children, parents, and elders – left Sailam with hearts full of joy and cherished memories.
