A short trip planned for elders, to Sree Nithyakalayani Amman Sameda Sree vilvavana Nathar temple at Kadayam.

As part of our efforts to enable elders to pursue their passions, the tour was arranged to place of religious importance.  Around 85 elders mostly above 70 years from Alwarkurichi, Kalyanipuram, Mannarkoil, V K Puram and other places gathered. Puja and prayers were performed for the wellness of all and particularly Vama’s growth. Very small temple in the interior of Kadayam village but well maintained.

One of elder started sharing story, that both Sree Nithyakalyani Amman and Sree Paramakalyani Amman are sisters and Sree Nithya Kalyani Amman is the elder. In an incident Sree Paramakalyani Amman hided her child from Sree Nithyakalyani and knowing that Sree Nithyakalyani made the child lifeless. Realising her mistake Sree Paramakalyani apologised and requested to give life to her child.  Sree Nithyakalyani burdened and gave life to the child. There was a boundary (Milli Malai) made and each of the sisters cannot see or hear any events happening at the place of another sister. 

It is also understood that Maharaja Dasarath got Saba Vimosanam here in temple.

There were lot of Bow Trees (Villa Maram) and the place was known as Vilva Vanam.  Lord Siva was   suyambu (don’t start) and named as Sree Vilvavananathar.

Another importance of this place Kadayam is that it is in-laws place of Late Sh Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathiyar. Bharathi works in a school here and also spent his time for poetry sitting on the rocks around.  Famous song Kani Nilam Vendum

சித்தம் மகிழ்ந்திடவே – நன்றாயிளந்

தென்றல் வரவேணும்.

Also went to Sree Parasakthi Temple and prayed for all.

After prayers around 12 noon elders gathered and discussed on the temple, Sree Nithyakalyani Amman, Bharathiyar.  Subramanian Sir, Lakshman Sir, Arumugam sir spoke about the importance of temples, prayers and being human etc.  Smt Pushpam, Smt Amutha and others sung devotional songs.

Lunch – Veg Biryani and Curd Rice with Kusuma and pickle was served and enjoyed by all. 

All departed from there to their home. Another memorable event and everyone thanked Vama team for such arrangements.
