Saturday Milan (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) - 99

99th Week of Saturday Sangamam held today 8th June 2024, with more than 90 elders at Sailam.

Elders gathered at 10 a.m. as usual after visiting the Sailappar temple. The event started with a prayer song sung by Mrs. Puspam and some other beneficiaries. After the prayer, they performed meditation with some breathing exercises and small games, including rubbing their palms and placing them on their eyes. This practice soothes stressed eyes and increases blood circulation around them.

As a program to bring the habit reading, they read the newspaper enthusiastically. Afterwards, they played a game called “Guess What,” where a person acts and the spectators guess the actions. This game enhances concentration and activates the brains of the elders.

We distributed malt to the elders during break time, which made them feel brisk and active. After the break, both compering girls introduced some activities for the elders. In one activity, two participants played a game called “Think Differently.” One person would say something, and the other person had to respond with a different, unrelated item. This game required participants to stay attentive and often resulted in funny moments on stage.

Next, they divided into two groups, each containing six members. Each group was given a set of chits to arrange in a specific sequence, which they then showed to the audience. Afterwards, the elders played another game where they formed a circle and listened to a song. When the song stopped, they drew a picture on a board, and the audience guessed what they had drawn. This game showcased their talent and drawing skills.

At lunch, they all enjoyed delicious sambar satham, curd rice, coconut rice, coriander thuvayal, and paruppu payasam. After lunch, they took a nap.

Later, they played a game called “Connecting the Dots Without Taking Hands,” led by Mr. Anantha Krishnan. Then they played another game, “Catch the Members,” where participants found others with the same color chits.

Finally, Mrs. Puspam and Mr. Sathasivam sang devotional songs. The elders enjoyed the day and left for their homes with delightful and mixed memories.
