Uplifting rural schools by supporting basic needs:

We visited three schools (1) Government Higher Secondary School, Kavoor Tirunelveli (2) Hindu Middle School, Papakudi, Tirunelveli and (3) Government High School Mannarkoil.  These school were affected by unprecedented rain & need support for the welfare & Education of children.

GHS KAVOOR was established in 2005 and it is managed by the Department of Education. It is located in Rural area. It is located in KADAYAM block of TIRUNELVELI district of Tamil Nadu. The school consists of Grades from 6 to 12. The school is Co-educational and Tamil is the medium of instructions in this school.

Uniqueness of the school is that the villagers participate in running the school.  In villages like Kavoor Kodai  thiruvizha one of the important event conducted every year. For having the school buildings, Villagers stopped kodai thiruvizha for one year and contributed full Vari Panam for acquiring land for the school. Then Government supported for building.

The school has a playground. The school has a library and has 435 books in its library. The school does not have ramp for disabled children to access classrooms. The school has no computers for teaching and learning.

Another notable thing was that during last year four ninth grade students got admission in the Government Model School in S Veerasamy Chettiar College of Education, Puliyankudi.

Getting reference from Sh Sudalai Madan Sir, Teacher in the school, we came know the need of dresses, writing and other materials for the needy students. 

With the support of Mr. Pandian and his friends and VAMA Family, we could arrange dresses and other materials for students.  We went along with Mrs and Mr Pandian and distributed the dresses to the students on 10th January 2024. Head Mistress, Teachers and staff thanked VAMA and its donors for the support extended to the rural poor students.
