Aging is
something to
be Celebrated

Commencing the journey to learning how to age gracefully and with dignity is really as simple as learning how to live a good life. What is a good life? It’s all about happiness, contentment, pride, confidence, vigor, vitality, hope, health, responsibility, etc. A good life should be the aim of any person no matter, what their age is.

The art of graceful dignified aging truly begins with affirmation. It is about accepting the maladies our bodies experience and creating pragmatic solutions for the necessary health care and assistance required so that we can build a foundation to support our efforts to construct a happy and healthy life highlighted by a gentle, confident grace and self-affirming sense of dignity.

We intend to take care those lonely and socially isolated old people who have no source of income. In the initial years, these elders will be provided with necessary financial support for their survival and also basic necessary comforts like cots, mattresses, fans etc. at their dwelling places. They will also be provided with free medicines recommended at their periodical heal camps that we plan to conduct and also present them with a minimum of three sets of new clothes every year.

Academic adoption

future of our
society
depends on the
younger
generation

At VAMA, we strongly believe that the future of our society depends on the younger generation. Their development starts right from basic education. Poverty, the predominant factor, is still a bottle neck for the young generation in pursuing their studies.

In addition to a sponsorship support in a small way, VAMA believes to focus on academic adoption model. Under this, deserving students from the rural will be selected and adopted for pursuing their education until they shine in their life.

Value Education

Educating the mind
without educating
the heart is no
education at all.

Aristotle

The challenge of helping children and youth acquire values is no longer as simple as it was decades ago when being a good role model and relating moral stories was usually sufficient. Violent movies and video games glorify violence and desensitize youth to
the effect of such actions. Youth see people who display greed, arrogance and negative behaviour rewarded with admiration and status. Young people are increasingly affected by bullying, social problems, violence, and a lack of respect for each other and the world around them. Social media often negatively impacts teens who are already emotionally vulnerable. Cyberbullying and sexting have been linked to the increase in the suicide rate of pre-teens and teens. Marginalized and troubled young people rarely achieve their potential without quality education. Feelings of inadequacy, hurt and anger often spiral downward and meanness, bullying, drug use, drop-out rates, crime, and suicide increase.

As educators, facilitators and parents, there are many things we can do to reserve this downward trend and create wellbeing … for young people and our world. Children and youth grow toward their potential in quality learning environments with a culture of peace and respect. Relatively few young people have such a values-based learning atmosphere.
Value Education project at VAMA is designed to help young people and older adults enjoy and learn from each other. There are many reasons for an youngster to spend time with older people. They have experiences to share and can teach us how to enjoy life and deal with difficult times. Older adults may have more time to listen and to share their talents, too.

VAMA’s purpose is to provide guiding principles and tools for the development of the whole person, recognizing that the individual is comprised of physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual dimensions.

The aims are:

  • To help individuals think about and reflect on different values and the practical implications of expressing them in relation to themselves, others, the community, and the world at large;
  • To deepen knowledge, understanding, motivation, and responsibility with regard to making positive personal and social choices;
  • To invite and inspire individuals to explore, experience, express and choose their own personal, social, moral, and spiritual values and be aware of practical methods for developing and deepening them; and
  • To encourage and support educators and caregivers to look at education as providing students with a philosophy of living, thereby facilitating their overall growth, development, and choices so they may integrate themselves into the community with respect, confidence, and purpose.

VAMA has chosen five feelings — loved, valued, respected, understood and safe — as its Theoretical Model. In VAMA’s Workshops, elders are asked to reflect on the values in their own lives and identify which are most important to them. In another session, they are asked to share quality teaching methods they can use to create their desired class climate

we promote
health, hygiene,
and well-being
of people

Illness to Wellness is an innovative way and comprehensive approach to cascade awareness about wellness campaign, to address preventive healthcare management and to promote health, hygiene, and well-being of people.

The outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic has potentially adversely affected the lives of people, their health, and wellbeing. The absence of adequate physical activities, persistent fear in mind, irritational feelings, unbalancing of appetite, weight gain, poor concentration, and worsening of chronic health problems are very badly affecting our health and immunity and may also trigger
already existing diseases. So, there is a need to strengthen our physical strength and immunity system even if we do not have any lifestyle disease. Safe, healthy, and nutritious food is vital for health, particularly in COVID 19 pandemic times when the healthy

and strong immune system needs to fight against this strong and very harmful virus.

Although proper nutrition and hydration substantially improves health and immunity, however, these are not the only solutions or panacea to all the complex health problems or critical diseases. People living with chronic illnesses who have suspected or confirmed COVID 19 may also need proper medical guidance, counselling, and support with proper, well-balanced, and nutritious diet to ensure they keep in sound mental and physical health.

VAMA focus on the wellness of rural village people through awareness program Yoga and support to prevent various illness through AYUSH program.
