SATURDAY MILAN (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) – 78
78th week of Sailathil Saturday Sangamam was celebrated yesterday (13/1/24). Around 104 elders gathered and celebrated Pongal.
Group of elders as per their age – 70 and above, 66-70, 61-65 and 60 and below assembled together and planned their activities. 70 Year’s of Age & above took centre place (in front of Sree Soundarya Ganapathi Temple) and started Rangoli.
Age group 66-70 occupied Happy Kitchen, Age group 61-65 in front of Smt. Seethalakshmi building and 60 &below at the entrance all enjoyed making Rangoli. Delicious traditional Pongal, Sakarapongal and Pongal village Kuzhambu were prepared and served. Sh Kannan Bhattar performed puja. Elders prayed for goodness of all and healthy life. They also thanked Surya Bhagwan and farmers for cultivating and growing rice and other eatables. Elders blessed others and echoed Pongal O Pongal.
To make the event more memorable and inclusive Smt Pushpa Sankararaman from Amar Seva Sangam and Sh. Balamurugan from Avvai Ashram Gandhigram joined and enjoyed with elders.
With a pleasant surprise Smt Gomathi Thirunavukkarasu from V K Puram joined and delivered a great speech on மார்கழி மாதம்கொண்டாடப்படுவதற்கான காரணம் என்ன… மார்கழியின் சிறப்புகள் என்ன? மாதங்களில் சிறந்த மாதமான மார்கழியாய் நான் இருப்பேன் என கிருஷ்ணர் அவதரித்து கூறியதாலோ என்னவோ இம்மாதம் அத்துணை போற்றுதலுக்கும் உரித்தான மாதமாய் விளங்குகிறது. தனுர் மாதம் எனவும் குறிப்பிடப்படும் மார்கழி மாதம் சிவனுக்கும், விஷ்ணுவுக்கும் உகந்த மாதம் ஆக கருதப்படுகிறது. Shr also added about Sree Andal and her Thirupavai, Sri Vaikunta Ekadesi, Thiruvathirai and Hanumath Jayanthi. She also talked about the importance of giving and caring others.
Elders participated in games – Uriyadi, Tug of war, bite the Murukku. Around 2.00 pm lunch was served. Post lunch, elders started Pattu Ku Pattu (Antakshari). Elders divided by gender and eagerly participated with old but gold songs.

School Uniform Support to Govt. High School, Karoor (10/1/2024)
We visited three schools (1) Government Higher Secondary School, Kavoor Tirunelveli (2) Hindu Middle School, Papakudi, Tirunelveli and (3) Government High School Mannarkoil. These school were affected by unprecedented rain & need support for the welfare & Education of children.

Support to schools/ students who were suffered during 10th December unprecedented rains in Southern districts.
We found urgent requirement for support in Hindu Middle School, Papakudi, Tirunelveli District. This school is more than 80 Years old running & educating nearby locality students. This School is run by a philanthropic family and now due to separation of family members, school finding difficulties to survive. 1st to 8th Grade classes are conducted and More than 180 students are studying.

81st week of Sailathil Saturday Sangamam,
A short trip planned for elders, to Sree Nithyakalayani Amman Sameda Sree vilvavana Nathar temple at Kadayam.
As part of our efforts to enable elders to pursue their passions, the tour was arranged to place of religious importance. Around 85 elders mostly above 70 years from Alwarkurichi, Kalyanipuram, Mannarkoil, V K Puram and other places gathered. Puja and prayers were performed for the wellness of all and particularly Vama’s growth. Very small temple in the interior of Kadayam village but well maintained.
SATURDAY MILAN (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) – 79 & 80
79th week and 80th week of Saturday Sangamam were held on 20th January and 27th January 2024
On 20th January it was drizzling and the last night was raining. Connecting Generation program was planned and 11 students from Sree Paramakalyani College came and spent time with elders. They planned various games such as Lemon Spoon race, Goal setting – Hit the plastic glasses games was targeted through ball. 🎳. Elders also played quiz and played passing the ball with music.

More than 90 elders gathered and enjoyed with Pattimantram conducted by our regular beneficiary.
The topic was “Who’s gives us happiness- family members or friends”:
3 Groups of Elders created for the debate & all 3 groups participated with full interest & gave their point of view over the topic.
