Uplifting rural schools by supporting basic needs:

Support to schools/ students who were suffered during 10th December unprecedented rains in Southern districts. 

We found urgent requirement for support in Hindu Middle School, Papakudi, Tirunelveli District.  This school is more than 80 Years old running & educating nearby locality students. This School is run by a philanthropic family and now due to separation of family members, school finding difficulties to survive. 1^st to 8^th Grade classes are conducted and More than 180 students are studying.

Students are not having any basic needs & they need support for basic tables and benches to sit and study. Teachers and head master contribute from their salary and support for the needs of Students. However, benches and tables are basic need for the students and they could not get it.  Understanding the need of the school, Vama team approached various kind-hearted people to support for 10 sets of benches and tables for students.  

Mr. Pandian, Mr. Vignesh, Ms. Priya, Mr. Sivaraman and Ms. Lakshmi Subramanian have promptly agreed to support.  We ordered and supplied 10 sets of benches and tables on 26/1/24. Headmaster and teachers were so happy to receive and expressed their appreciation to get such support to students.   26/1/24 being 75th Republic Day, students performed several dances, villu Pattu, quiz program etc. Whatever the best available with the school, teachers and students organise the stage and instruments for villu Pattu and dances.

Vama team Shri. Subramanian, Shri.  Lakshman, Shri.  Pandian, Mr Kumar and Ms Vadivoo enjoyed the event and gladly handed over the benches to the school.

While benches and tables made available for the students it was felt important to get tables and chairs for the for the teachers to enable them to equally conduct classes with dignity and respect from the students.  Vama team prayed for more support from donors to arrange for five sets of tables and chairs for teachers who are using old broken tables now to conduct classes.  Head master sir mentioned that the floor is uneven and the new benches and tables cannot be put in use immediately and he is trying get support for correction of the floor soon. 

With lot of energies got from the students and teachers, Vama team returned back to Sivasailam.  Now it is the time to seek support for chairs and tables for teachers and flooring support.
