Saturday Milan (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) - 108

The 108th week of the Saturday Sangamam event was successfully held today at Pappakudi, on the campus of the Thirukadukkai Moontreeswarar Temple.

More than 80 elders from nearby villages and Pappakudi.Mannarkoil ,VK puram,Kalyanipuram and Alwarkurichy participated in the program. Additionally, 45 school children from Hindu Middle School in Pappakudi took part and conducted a cultural program. The children showcased their talents through various performances, including a skit that effectively conveyed the importance of education for women. They also performed a drama about “Manimegalai Akshaya Pathram” and beautifully sang the Tamil folk art, Villupattu.the disadvantage of the mobile uses was explained well by students .

Teacher Ms. Chitra engaged with the elders on the topic of traditional foods and the use of common household herbs. She emphasized the medicinal benefits of ingredients like curry leaves, amla, honey, and ginger, particularly for the elderly, and recommended incorporating them into their daily morning routine. She also suggested that the elders maintain a habit of walking and exercising regularly.

Mr. Lakshmanan spoke about VAMA’s activities in Sailam and highlighted the participation of VAMA’s elders in the Tamil Elakkiya Peravai annual day celebration, which was held on August 10th in Ambasamudram. He also acknowledged the dedication of our founder, Mr. Muthukumarasamy, and his commitment to serving society, noting his involvement with VAMA over the past two years.

Mr. Natarajan spoke about the expectations of the people of Pappakudi regarding the continuation of VAMA’s activities for elders and educational programs for village children.

Our trustee, Mr. Muthukumarasamy, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Natarajan for his support in organizing the event and ensuring its success. He reiterated VAMA’s commitment to serving the elderly community.

Mr. Murugan from Pappakudi appreciated VAMA’s wonderful services for elders, especially during festivals like Deepavali and Pongal, and the support provided through the Midday Meal program and weekly gatherings. He requested that our trustee consider extending similar support to the elders in Pappakudi, akin to what is being done in Sivasailam.

The lunch, prepared and served by the VAMA kitchen team, included rice, avial, sambar, curd, and milk payasam, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. After the meal, everyone returned home happily.
