Saturday Milan (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) - 117

Today, we began the Diwali celebrations with our beloved elders and frontline warriors. For the past four years, VAMA has supported elders during the Diwali season by providing new clothes and sweets. This year, in continuation of our tradition, we started the distribution today at Sailam, marking the 117th week of our Saturday Sangamam gatherings.

The sweets and savories, including athirasam, murukku, laddu, and thukkada, were all specially prepared by our elder beneficiaries. More than 1elders from Alwai, VK Puram, Thirumalai Puram, and Kalyani Puram participated in this event. The team organized the dress distribution beautifully, with each elder actively involved and sharing their past Diwali memories with VAMA. Mr. Lakshman, one of our members, shared his experiences and expressed his appreciation for VAMA’s ongoing service to society.

Our trustee, Mr. Sundaram, Mr. Saila Subramanian and Mr. Lakshman, attended the event. Our Managing Trustee, Mr. Muthukumarasamy , invited all beneficiaries and personally distributed the clothes and sweets to them.

Following the distribution to elders, our team visited Kadayam Government Hospital to present clothes and sweets to frontline warriors. Our trustee recalled the dedication of these “seviliers” during the COVID-19 pandemic and their continued service to the community. He expressed VAMA’s admiration and gratitude for their commitment. This marks a new initiative for VAMA in recognizing and honoring frontline workers.

The arrangements for recognizing those who have performed exceptionally well and consistently cared for our elders were organized by Mr. Palanikumar. The event concluded with everyone appreciating VAMA’s service and efforts.

Elders, frontline workers, volunteers and Vama Team thanked Sh Kalyanaraman of Mannarkoil who have been financially fully supporting the event. Dresses and Sweets are donated on behalf of Shantha MG Gaza’s and Late Smt Seethalakshmi Srinivasan.

A big thank you to the VAMA team for their tireless service in making this event a wonderful success!
