We are pleased to share the highlights of the 128th week of Sangamam. This week, we celebrated the traditional Pongal festival with our elders. All men and women came in our Tamilnadu traditional costumes Saree and dhotis. The event witnessed the participation of over 120 elders, along with our computer class students and professional course students, showcasing our core concept of “Connecting Generations.”
The elders actively participated in the Pongal preparations, followed by various engaging activities such as games, kolattam, kummiyattam, and the singing of Pongal songs. The highlight of the celebration was the silambattam performance by Mr. Rengasamy and student Jasmin, which captivated the audience and exemplified our Connecting Generations concept.
Many women enthusiastically participated in kolam drawing alongside the younger generation, further emphasizing the essence of intergenerational bonding. Competitions in various games were conducted for the elders, adding to the joy and excitement.During the event, Mr. Rajendran, a Kavingar from Veera Vallur, one of the well-wishers of our trust, shared his heartfelt wishes through a beautiful kavithai that reflected VAMA’s efforts for the welfare of elders. He honored our trustee, Mr. Muthukumarasamywith the VAMA Valthumadal in the presence of the elders. This is a proud moment and a meaningful recognition for VAMA’s service to society in this start of New Year. We sincerely thank Mr. Rajendran for this thoughtful appreciation.
The celebration continued with a traditional and delicious lunch. The menu included new rice Pongal, Pongal kulambu (a South Tamil Nadu specialty), sakkarai Pongal, and sundal. Everyone relished the food and appreciated the cultural authenticity of the meal.
Post-lunch, the elders shared their memories and experiences of Thiruvathirai and Vaikunta Ekadasi, adding a spiritual and reflective touch to the day. During the feedback session, the elders expressed their joy and gratitude, reminiscing about the meaningful and enjoyable experience.
Finally, all participants departed to their respective places, carrying with them the warmth and happiness of the day.
Thank you for vama team for all arrangements in making these events a success.
