We are happy to share that the 109th week of the Saturday Sangamam event was successfully held today (31/08/2024) at our Sailam. More than 100 elders participated from nearby villages including Pappakudi, Mannarkoil, VK Puram, Kalyanipuram, Alwarkurichy, and Thirumalipuram. We were also pleased to welcome 15 new participants to our Sangamam this week.
This week, our VAMA team celebrated the birthday of Mr Sankararaman, husband of Mrs. Lakshmi madam AOL. We also extended our warm courtesy to our well-wisher, retired collector Sh Lakshmi Kandha Bharathi, on the occasion of his 75th wedding anniversary, with all our beneficiaries joining in the celebrations.
During the event, Mrs. Lakshmi addressed the gathering, encouraging everyone to maintain a positive outlook on life. She emphasized that what we think is what we manifest, so it’s important to stay positive and happy. She also advised everyone to keep their bodies healthy through regular small exercises and breathing routines.
Mr. I. Lakshmanan shared insightful stories about the importance of good thoughts and deeds in life. He highlighted that when we do good for others, it comes back to us in positive ways, while negative actions can have adverse effects on our lives. Ms. Pushpam and Ms. Esakkiyammal added to the spiritual ambiance with their rendition of Murugan songs.
In celebration of Krishna Jayanthi, we organized the traditional Uriyadi game for the elders, with more than 20 participants, both male and female, enjoying the game. The activity brought back fond memories of their younger days, when they played Uriyadi with friends. Our VAMA team also conducted other engaging games like Footprint and Face Action, which energized and enthused the participants.
During lunch, we served a delicious meal that included Sadham, with Idi Masala Sambar, Kothavarangai Usili, Paruppu Payasam, Appalam, and More. Everyone relished the meal and enjoyed dining with their VAMA friends.
After lunch, the games continued, starting with a session of Pattukku Pattu and Kathai Sollum Neram. The event concluded with Mr. Lakshmanan reciting the Thirukkural:
“நெருநல் உளனொருவன் இன்றில்லை என்னும் பெருமை உடைத்துஇவ் வுலகு.”
This means: “The world is transient and impermanent, as evidenced by the fact that someone who was present yesterday is no longer here today.”
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this event a grand success
