Saturday Milan (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) - 137

We are happy to share the highlights of the 137th week of Sangamam at Sailam, which was held on 19th April. Due to local festival- Car Festival and Panguni uthiram, sangam event could not be held during last two Saturdays. Elders expressed their feeling on the absence of Sangamam event and requested not to skip Sangamam event as they eagerly wait to participate.
As usual, the event saw enthusiastic participation from over 120 elders from various locations. We were especially honored to welcome 9 distinguished guests from the Courtalam Rotary Club, whose presence added great value to the gathering. Their visit was coordinated by Dr. Muthuraman, who graciously introduced all the Rotary Club members: Mr. Murugan, Mr. Sekar, Mr. Balasubramanian, Mr. Ramakrishnan, Mr. Selvaganapathy, Mr. Ramesh, Mr. Subburaj, and Mr. Dilip.
The Rotary team generously donated pillows for the elders, a thoughtful gesture that will contribute to their comfort and better rest.
During the morning session, many elders shared fond memories of their village life, along with personal experiences, medical advice, and cooking tips. The Rotary guests then spoke about their club’s service initiatives and joined their team in serving lunch to the elders. They appreciated the work being done by VAMA Trust for the elderly and expressed their willingness to continue supporting our cause.
After lunch, the atmosphere turned vibrant as our elders sang several old songs, which were warmly appreciated by the guests. The Rotary members were impressed by the talents and the spirited participation of the elders who attend Sangamam regularly.
Dr. Muthuraman assured the elders by saying,
“We are here to support you — please don’t worry about any inconvenience in your old age. On behalf of the Rotary Club, we are happy to extend our support through VAMA for your well-being.” Being a Doctor by profession, he asked elders to connect with him for any kind of medical support.

Mr Selvaganapathy, a well known business man appreciated the concept of Preserving the Talent and taking values of such talent to next generation.

Following the distribution of the donated pillows, our trustee Mr. Muthukumarasamy thanked all the elders and guests for their active participation. He gave special thanks to Mrs. Ramani Sankaraman of Ayikudi, who introduced the Rotary Club members from Tenkasi and has been continuously supporting VAMA by connecting new well-wishers to our mission. Her heartfelt support in every aspect is deeply appreciated.
The program concluded with all the elders returning home with joyful hearts and cherished memories.
