This week, the 147th week of Sangamam was held at Ambasamudram Veluchamy Mandapam in association with Ambai Tamil Ilakkiya Peravai. The occasion coincided with their 50th Annual Year – Ponvila Celebration, and we had the privilege to join and celebrate this milestone event with them.

More than 250 elders participated in the celebration. Various programs such as school competitions, dance, debate, kavithai, and sorpolivu were conducted. Our VAMA elders also actively participated by singing traditional songs, sharing experiences, and speaking about the activities of VAMA.

We were delighted to organize lunch for all participants, which was warmly appreciated by the Tamil Ilakkiya Peravai team.

A proud moment for us was when our Managing Trustee, Mr. Muthukumarasamy, received the prestigious “Sevai Semmal” Award from Tamil Ilakkiya Peravai. The award was presented by our former District Collector, Mr. Lashmikandan Bharathy. In his speech, he praised our Managing Trustee, saying the award was truly deserving for his dedicated service to society. He also fondly remembered his 10-day experience with VAMA, sharing how much he enjoyed witnessing the care extended to elders.

The first day of the celebration began at 10 a.m. and concluded with a Pattimandram at 7 p.m. On the second day, our VAMA elders again participated in the annual yearbook release function. Elders from Mannarkoil, VK Puram, Thirumalai Puram, Alwarkurichi, and Kalyanipuram joined the celebrations.

Both days were filled with joyful programs, meaningful participation, and memorable moments. All the elders returned with sweet memories of this special celebration.
