Saturday Milan (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) - 149

We are pleased to share the highlights of the 149th week of Sangamam, held at Sailam.

This week’s theme, “Connecting Generations,” celebrated the beauty of intergenerational bonding. To mark the occasion, we invited children from Merit Hr. Sec. School, Ambasamudram. With the generous support of our well-wisher, Ms. Rohini, a classical dance teacher, 17 children participated, accompanied by some of their parents.

Elders from Thirumalaipuram, Mannarkoil, VK Puram, Kalyanipuram, and Alwarkurichi joined the gathering and enthusiastically took part in the day’s events.

We were honored by the presence of Mr. Meenakshi Subramanian from Mukkudal and Mr. Neelakandan from Ravanasamudram, who graciously attended as special guests. They engaged meaningfully with both elders and children, sharing insightful moral stories and encouraging the children with small prizes for their enthusiastic participation. In a kind gesture, Mr. Subramanian also sponsored a heater for the elders’ room to provide hot water for their comfort.

The day was filled with fun games and interactive activities that brought elders and children together, fostering joy and connection. A wholesome lunch was served to all, featuring a child-friendly menu of vegetable pulav, curd rice, lemon rice, pickles, and raita.

One of the most heartwarming moments was the special activity titled “Dance with Grandma,” where grandmothers joined the children in joyful dance, creating cherished memories for all.

Our Trustee, Mr. Kumar, addressed the children and encouraged them to spend quality time with their grandparents, learn traditional games, understand native cuisines, and appreciate the wisdom passed down through generations.

He emphasized the importance of building strong bonds, especially for girls, to preserve cultural values and strengthen family unity.

Adding to the day’s charm, the weather remained pleasantly cool throughout, creating an ideal atmosphere for outdoor activities. The delightful climate made sukku coffee a preferred treat, warming hearts and spirits as the event concluded.

As the gathering drew to a close, sukku coffee eas served and the participants returned home with smiles, carrying the joy of a meaningful and memorable day.

This week’s Sangamam was a true celebration of connection, community, and shared heritage.
