SATURDAY MILAN (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) - 176

We successfully conducted the 176th week of our Saturday Sangamam at Vama.

During the gathering, our elders performed a special puja and offered heartfelt prayers for the wellness, happiness, and good health of all our donors, well-wishers, relatives, neighbours, and their old and gold friends who continue to support and encourage Vama’s elder care initiatives.

One of the elders shared a deeply touching reflection under the theme “படித்ததில் பிடித்தது” (“A Thought that Touched the Heart”). The message beautifully captured the emotions, fears, realities, and wisdom that accompany ageing.

The reflection spoke about how, at this stage of life, messages about the passing away of classmates and long-time friends are becoming more frequent. It reminded everyone that those above 75 years are truly living a “bonus phase” of life — a precious gift made possible by medical advancements and changing lifestyles.

The message also highlighted an important truth: ageing should not be lived in fear, loneliness, or anxiety, but with positivity, activity, emotional connection, and gratitude. It encouraged elders to continue caring for their health through yoga, walking, breathing exercises, and meaningful social engagement, while also cherishing family relationships and companionship.

One beautiful line that deeply moved everyone was:
“If every morning we wake up thinking, ‘This day too is a gift from God,’ then this bonus phase of life can become the most beautiful phase of all.”

The entire gathering turned emotional as many elders connected the message with their own life experiences and memories.

Several elders openly shared their feelings, concerns, and gratitude.

At the end of the session, every elder expressed heartfelt thanks to Vama and all the kind-hearted people associated with Vama for creating such meaningful gatherings, serving lunch with love, and extending care and support at their doorsteps.

Moments like these continue to strengthen our mission of ensuring dignity, emotional wellbeing, belongingness, and compassionate care for elders.

Thank you once again for being part of this journey of care and humanity.
