A Gathering of Hearts ❤️

“Age may slow our steps, but it should never stop us from coming together.”

Yesterday, more than 40 elders, many between 70 and 85 years, made the effort to come from Ravanasamudram, Kadayam, Thirumalaipuram, Mukkudal and nearby villages.

They came not just for a programme.They came to meet.
To pray.
To laugh.
To share.
To belong.

🙏 People from different faiths joined the Krishna Jayanthi prayer, reflecting VAMA’s spirit of Palasamayap Prarthanai — unity, mutual respect and harmony.

🌸 A special moment when Selvi Vinaya, granddaughter of our well-wisher Mr. Neelakandan, sang a prayer song in her sweet voice.

🥗 THEN CAME THE COMMUNITY DINNER!

A lovingly prepared traditional feast featuring:

Ulunthu Kali • Ellu Urundai • Pori Urundai • Idly • Podi Dosai • Poori • Chapathi • Curd Rice • Kathirikkai Kichadi • Pudhina Chutney • Channa Masala & more

The food was enjoyed.

But what mattered even more was eating together.

💬 WHAT OUR ELDERS TOLD US

“Please do this more often.”

The elders requested monthly or twice-monthly community gatherings, including in places such as Mukkudal, Ravanasamudram and Ambasamudram.

That request is more than feedback.

It is a message.

🌱 FROM SANGAMAM TO IASERC

VAMA also shared the vision of IASERC – Integrated Ageing, Silver Economy & Resource Centre and the proposed Mini Chapters in nearby villages.

The idea is simple:

Bring services closer to elders.
Create more opportunities to meet.
And make elders partners — not merely beneficiaries.

It was not the number of people who attended.

It was the number of smiles.

It was the conversations.

It was the prayers.

It was the friendships renewed.

It was the feeling of “I am not alone.”

Our elders took the pain to come to us.
We are determined to take VAMA closer to them.

🌿 SANGAMAM IS NOT JUST AN EVENT.

IT IS WHERE ELDERS FEEL SEEN, HEARD, VALUED & AT HOME.
