SATURDAY MILAN (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) - 193
We are happy to share the report of the 193rd Week of VAMA Saturday Sangamam, which was conducted as a two-day programme on 25th and 26th September 2026. The two-day programme brought together retired persons, pensioners, elders, healthcare professionals, trainers and resource persons with the common purpose of strengthening support and services for the elderly community.
Day 1 – 25th September 2026
Interaction with Retired Persons and Pensioners at Kadayam
On 25th September, VAMA organised a special gathering at Kadayam for retired persons and pensioners residing in and around the Kadayam area. More than 15 retired persons participated in the programme.
The programme was headed by our Trustee, Mr. Muthukumarasamy, who interacted with the participants and introduced them to the activities, objectives and ongoing programmes of VAMA Charitable Trust.
During the interaction, the concept of establishing a “Mini Chapter” for an Elder Resource Centre was explained. The initiative aims to create a local platform where senior citizens can connect with one another, share their knowledge and experience, access support services, and actively contribute to the welfare of the elderly community.
Following the interaction, the participants visited the VAMA campus. They had the opportunity to observe our various activities and programmes and also watched a presentation on the future plans and development initiatives of VAMA Charitable Trust.
After lunch, the retired persons expressed their willingness to support VAMA’s initiatives for the elderly community. They assured that the Kadayam retired persons’ group would extend their support to VAMA and contribute “one step for the elders’ community.”
Day 2 – 26th September 2026
GERI Care Practical Training and Interaction Session
On 26th September, the second day of the programme was organised in collaboration with the trainees from Sithar Kottam – GERI Care Institution.
The trainees had the valuable opportunity to participate in a practical learning and guidance session facilitated by the team led by Dr. V. S. Nadarajan from Chennai.
Mr. Hari Shankar from Chennai, along with his team members, participated in the programme. Dr. Murali Karthik, Dentist, and Dr. Srinivasan, Skin Specialist, also joined the programme along with their respective team members.
The resource persons provided practical guidance and shared their knowledge and experience related to elder care, health support and the specific needs of senior citizens. The session included practical demonstrations, interaction with elders and guidance for the trainees.
The elders who were present also had the opportunity to interact directly with the professionals and resource persons. The practical nature of the session made it a meaningful learning experience for the trainees as well as the elders.
A Meaningful Two-Day Sangamam
Both days of the 193rd Week Saturday Sangamam were conducted as full-day programmes and provided opportunities for meaningful interaction, learning, knowledge sharing and community engagement.
VAMA Charitable Trust sincerely thanks all the retired persons, pensioners, elders, trustees, GERI Care trainees, healthcare professionals, resource persons, team members and well-wishers who participated and contributed to making the two-day Sangamam a meaningful and successful programme.
We are grateful to everyone who joined hands with VAMA Charitable Trust in our continued efforts to create a supportive, healthy and dignified community for senior citizens.
