We are happy to share the highlights of the 152nd Week of the Sangamam Program, organized by VAMA Charitable Trust at Sailam on 4th October.

This week’s event featured a comprehensive medical camp, led by our senior member and Padma Shri Awardee Dr. V. S. Nadarajan, who participated along with his team of dedicated doctors. More than six doctors and their nursing staff took part in the camp, including:
Dr. Harishankar – Senior Citizen Specialist
Dr. Balakrishnan – Dermatologist
Dr. Muralikarthik – Dentist
Dr. Mahalashmi – Naturopathy Specialist
Dr. Abhiramai – Naturopathy Doctor and Yoga Specialist

They conducted health check-ups, provided medical consultations, and raised valuable health awareness among the beneficiaries. Over 200 elders from various locations attended the camp and received medical support and guidance.

SARASWATHY POOJA AND AYUDHA POOJA CELEBRATION

VAMA Charitable Trust joyfully celebrated Saraswathi Pooja and Ayudha Pooja with our beloved elders on October 1st and 2nd, 2025. The celebrations began with office cleaning and beautiful decorations by our team members, followed by a traditional pooja conducted in the presence of our Trustee, Mr. Muthukumarasamy.

All office files, documents, and materials were placed for blessings during the pooja, signifying the importance of knowledge and work. On the following day, pooja was performed for all our vehicles and at the office, marking the spirit of Ayudha Pooja — a day dedicated to honoring tools of work and service.

After the rituals, prasadam was distributed among the elders and team members. The elders participated joyfully and expressed their happiness, making the occasion truly special and memorable for everyone at VAMA Trust.

SATURDAY MILAN (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) – 151

The 151st Saturday Sangamam was joyfully celebrated on Saturday, 27th September 2025, at Tamil Vazharchi Panpattu Maiyaam, NGO Colony, Tirunelveli, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Launched on 22nd July 2022, Saturday Sangamam recently marked a major milestone with its 150th gathering on 20th September 2025. Over these 150 editions, the Sangamam has become a cherished platform that bridges generations—strengthening social and emotional bonds, nurturing values among youngsters, and creating meaningful opportunities for elders to remain connected with the community.
The initiative has played a vital role in reducing social isolation among elders from Alwarkurichi, Sivasailam, Ambasamudram, V.K. Puram, Papakudi, and several other villages. Kudos to the VAMA Team for their unwavering spirit and energy in sustaining this initiative week after week.
After the grand 100th week celebration on 15th June 2024, the frequency of Sangamam was thoughtfully shifted from weekly to fortnightly. This change reflected the evolving circumstances of participants—many elders were reunited with their families, several regained emotional strength, and sadly, a few members were no longer with us.
During the 150th Sangamam, it was resolved that the programme should spread beyond Sivasailam and nearby villages, extending to Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Rajapalayam, and Tuticorin. The 151st edition at Tirunelveli marked the first step of this expansion journey.

SATURDAY MILAN (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) – 149

We are pleased to share the highlights of the 149th week of Sangamam, held at Sailam.
This week’s theme, “Connecting Generations,” celebrated the beauty of intergenerational bonding. To mark the occasion, we invited children from Merit Hr. Sec. School, Ambasamudram. With the generous support of our well-wisher, Ms. Rohini, a classical dance teacher, 17 children participated, accompanied by some of their parents.
Elders from Thirumalaipuram, Mannarkoil, VK Puram, Kalyanipuram, and Alwarkurichi joined the gathering and enthusiastically took part in the day’s events.

We were honored by the presence of Mr. Meenakshi Subramanian from Mukkudal and Mr. Neelakandan from Ravanasamudram, who graciously attended as special guests. They engaged meaningfully with both elders and children, sharing insightful moral stories and encouraging the children with small prizes for their enthusiastic participation. In a kind gesture, Mr. Subramanian also sponsored a heater for the elders’ room to provide hot water for their comfort.

SATURDAY MILAN (சனிக்கிழமை சங்கமம்) – 148

We also had the pleasure of hosting Dr Badmanaban from the Kallidaikurichi Old Age Home, who spent time interacting with our Trustee and commended the selfless work being done for the elder community.

Mr. Neelakandan, a retired headmaster from Ravanasamudram, attended the event with his wife Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari. A long-time well-wisher of VAMA Trust, Mr. Neelakandan has been instrumental in spreading awareness about our work and supporting us in many meaningful ways. Their continued encouragement and shared interest in service truly added warmth to the occasion.
